Gail K. Naughton, Ph.D., CEO and Chairman of the Board

Gail K. NaughtonIn addition to being the Dean of the College of Business Administration at San Diego State University since August 2002, Dr. Naughton founded Histogen, Inc. in 2007, and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for the Company. She has spent more than 15 years extensively researching the tissue engineering process, holds more than 90 U.S. and foreign patents and has been extensively published in the field.

During her tenure at Advanced Tissue Sciences, where she was the company's co-founder and co-inventor of its core technology, Dr. Naughton held a variety of key management positions, including president, chief operating officer, chief scientific officer and principal scientist. While serving as an officer and director of the Company, Dr. Naughton oversaw the design and development of the world's first up-scaled manufacturing facility for tissue engineered products, established corporate development and marketing partnerships with companies including Smith & Nephew, Ltd., Medtronic and Inamed Corporation, was pivotal in raising over $350M from the public market and corporate partnerships, and brought four human cell-based products from concept through FDA approval and market launch.

In 2000, Dr. Naughton received the 27th Annual National Inventor of the Year award by the Intellectual Property Owners Association in honor of her pioneering work in the field of tissue engineering. Dr. Naughton sits on the Board of directors of the City of Hope, Celera (NASDAQ:CRA) and CR Bard (NYSE: BCR).

Dr. Mark A. Hubka, Director of Clinical Affairs

Dr. Mark A. HubkaDr. Hubka brings more than 25 years of clinical experience from the fields of orthopedics and sports medicine to Histogen. His experience in managed care includes his time as State Director of the largest designated provider network (DPN) in California, focused on worker's compensation.

Dr. Hubka has specialized in cost containment in healthcare, consulting for large employers such as Rohr Industries and the San Diego Union Tribune, as well as City and County agencies including San Diego, Santa Barbara and San Francisco. Dr. Hubka previously acted as a consultant to labor councils as well as unions, and has worked with the insurance industry, defense and applicant attorneys.

Dr. Hubka also was the Physician Administrator at an out-patient orthopedic surgery center, where he helped to interface with the surgeons and their staff. While in that position, Dr. Hubka handled quality controls and outcome assessments which made for a natural transition to the regenerative medicine field, particularly relating to clinical trials.

Dr. Hubka currently sits on the National Licensing Board and does private consulting to college and professional athletes.

Eileen Naughton Brandt, Director of Corporate Communications

Eileen Naughton BrandtEileen brings more than 5 years of experience in communications and public relations to Histogen. Prior to joining Histogen in 2007, she held positions with Moore Media Relations, Inc., a firm working with high-technology companies throughout the U.S. on various PR projects, with a focus on media relations. Previously, Eileen held positions at San Diego State University's Entrepreneurial Management Center, beginning as a Student Assistant at the San Diego State University and later serving as Program Coordinator.

Eileen earned her bachelor's degree in Communications - Public Relations from San Diego State University. She is a member of the High Tech Marketing Alliance (HTMA) and the National Communication Association (NCA).
